Kevin Love revealed a disturbing revelation about a panic attack suffered last season, telling Carson Daly in an interview for NBC’s “TODAY” that he thought he was having a heart attack and may die.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star disclosed the harrowing details of the panic attack suffered on Nov. 5, revealing how he felt while lying on the floor in the locker room as the panic attack took hold of him.

“I had a moment where I thought I was going to die,” Love told Daly during an interview that aired Monday morning, as transcribed by Cleveland.com.

“I thought I was having a heart attack,” Love added. “I was running around looking for something that I couldn’t find. I just wanted to get air. And so I ended up basically unconscious on the floor and putting my hand down my throat and trying to get something out of there, but there was nothing there.”

Love additionally credited Cavaliers trainer Steve Spiro for coming to his aid during the terrifying incident.

“I just remember him screaming my name, because you don’t really know how to deal with that,” Love said.

Love revealed in a powerful essay for The Players’ Tribune published in March that had suffered a panic attack and sought mental health treatment in the wake of the incident. The Cleveland Cavaliers star revealed shortly after the admission that the response not only was “overwhelming,” but also “universally positive.”

At the time of the essay, Love credited then-Toronto Raptors star DeMar DeRozan — now with the San Antonio Spurs — for speaking publicly about his battles with depression, saying it inspired him to admit things publicly himself.

Love also mentions during the interview the powerful message then-teammate LeBron James relayed to him shortly after going public himself about his profoundly personal experience.

As noted in the Cleveland.com report, Love also shared his panic attack experience in a provocative piece by ESPN’s Jackie McMullen detailing the NBA’s approach to addressing mental health issues affecting the league.
