Southampton have become the latest English club to express an interest in signing midfielder Jack Wilshere from Arsenal this summer.
The England international has just a couple of weeks left on his Gunners deal and widespread reports suggest that Wilshere will take the chance to leave the north London club.
In this regard, there has been plenty of interest from Everton, West Ham United, Juventus among others but according to The Mirror, the Saints have joined the pursuit of the player’s signature.
Mark Hughes‘ side have recently witnessed Leicester City beat them to the potential signing of Norwich City’s James Maddison and Wilshere has now been identified as the prime target to strengthen the heart of the midfield.
Wilshere previously had a season-long loan spell with Bournemouth between 2016 and 2017 and the prospect of returning to the south coast could be a temptation.
The Stevenage-born has racked nearly 200 appearances for Arsenal during a decade-long stay. He featured in 38 matches for the Gunners last term but only 12 of those were starts in the top-flight.
