Queens Park Rangers manager Ian Holloway has revealed Ray Wilkins was the best team-mate he ever had in a touching tribute to the Loftus Road hero.

Wilkins, who also played for Chelsea, Manchester United and England, suffered a cardiac arrest at the weekend and remains critically ill in hospital.

And speaking after Rangers’ 4-1 Championship win against Norwich, Holloway revealed the 61-year-old made him believe he was good enough to play at the highest level.

“He was immense for me and it was the best five years of my life playing with that group of people,” he said.
